Multicoloured Mayhem (MCM)

In May 2006 Lydney based band, MCM (previously known as Multicoloured Mayhem) teamed up with the campaign to produce a song in support of their work.

The boys successfully obtained funding from the CDRP (Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership) and Forum for Youth to record the track, appropriately titled “Time and Place”. It is an emotive song with poignant lyrics including references to drink driving, speeding and putting others in danger.

1000 CD’s were produced and given away at gigs. The aim of this was to leave youngsters with a message in a language that they understand i.e. music, which will hopefully help get the importance of road safety across. The song was launched at the Coleford Music Festival in May where the first 100 copies were handed out to a very supportive crowd.

None of the band actually knew any of the 19 victims that led to the creation of Time and Place, but they all know people who were affected by the tragic events which is how they were inspired to try and communicate their strong message through this track.

One year on, now that the final batch of CD’s have been given away, the band wanted to launch a fresh approach to continue their support of the campaign through music; and in early May they teamed up with a London media house and shot a video to accompany the track, with the eventual aim that this will be distributed to every secondary school pupil and college age student in Gloucestershire, and also form part of the Time and Place educational package for distribution throughout the UK.
